about

There is a cemetery that was treated as a neighborhood park. I would walk by and through it. One dark night I brought my uke and sat against a tree singing. I came home and made a longer version on my electric guitar. I took one take only.

lyrics

Walking through the cemetery
Singing to the ones before me
Walking through the cemetery
Singing to those who came before me
It’s like I’ve seen you on the side
It’s like we are walking together this night
You were here a hundred years ago
But why does it feel like you are here tonight
Walking through the cemetery
It’s like you're near me
You will never walk up the stairs of your old house
There is new flesh
Covering me
Walking through the cemetery
It feels like your still here with me
A hundred years ago
Feels like nothing more it feels like your here with me
How could I have so much sympathy for a name in a rock
It’s like you’re here with me in the cemetery
One day will you appear
Oh dear
Kids in the back smoking weed of the cemetery
A couple having a midday lunch
A dude who looks so lonely smoking to feel something
Then there is me a girl leaning up against a tree
Singing and playing her ukulele
Walking through a cemetery
It’s like you’re here with me
I know I should get so attached to the dead
You were here a hundred years ago
And you did at the age I am today maybe
That was all the love that I needed today
Walking through the cemetery
Feels like you’re still here with me
